I am a London-based handquilter and historian - and I'm always amazed at how much one is inspired by the other! To me, quilting and research are intertwined - there's normally a story and quite a lot of reading that sits behind my quilt work, so I am very much a slow stitcher.
I blog about quilting, reading and and how they inspire me at http://www.isthereroomformetosew.com where you can find out about various quilting projects. I am currently exploring ways of incorporating text into my quilting, and am working on a large scale quilt project inspired by Hilary Mantel’s Cromwell trilogy, along with research into the practice of stitching in the books.
I am a hand stitcher by preference - I prefer not to use a machine at all.
