Hello I’m Rebecca,
I am a designer, maker and Textile Artist working out of my little design studio in the heart of Derbyshire.
I have always loved fabrics and was encouraged from a very young age to explore my creativity. I studied Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University for my BA(Hons). Following my studies I spent many years in the creative industry as a Textile and Homeware Designer, but my true passion is for Textile Art and in particular Quilts of all types. I recently left my commercial design career to focus on a return to my roots as a Textile Artist.
The materials I use are important to my work. I use only 100% Cotton and Linen fabrics sourced from second hand garments that I carefully select for their fabric quality and glorious colours. I can often be found hunting round thrift stores, antique emporiums and sale rooms looking for those perfect little gems.
I am passionate about beautiful textiles, but believe these things shouldn’t come at a heavy cost to the environment. I love to Recycle, Remake & Renew and have been following this practice for as long as I can remember.
My work is focused on use of colour where soft tones contrast with deeper shades and pops of unexpected colours are introduced to add visual playfulness. As my materials are sourced from recycling garments an element of the unknown becomes an integral part of my design process. I am guided by the founds fabrics and colours allowing them to inform my work in an organic and less planned way.
Many things inspire me, I let my intuition decide the direction of each new project.
